In 1990, we bought the property next door, when we heard they were going to
sub-divide and put town houses next to us. (This is why we moved to the country
– we like the green space.) We worked really hard transforming bush, scrub and
rocks into pasture. Then we had to decide what to do with this new property.
In July 1992, I had seen a llama farm on the freeway, and decided to stop there
one day. After a few visits, we bought a double-registered pregnant female and
an unrelated young male.We understood that you really should have at least two
females, so we found another farm. We selected a tall young female with wavy
fibre and arranged for all the llamas to be delivered at the same time, so they
would bond together. This was the start of Cashman Creek Llama Farm, named
after the creek that runs through the length of the property.
We visited Llama Shows and Sales, and purchased four more Classic females and
an awesome young male.
